"In the space between us are the myths and memories we share. Within this orbit of heads, to whom do these faces belong? Gods? Daughters? Pranksters?

FACE SPACE is a selection of representational and symbolic paintings, drawings, and sculpture from ten artists working out of the studio at Center for Creative Works: Jacob Berger, Mary T. Bevlock, Paige Donovan, Clyde Henry, Olin Johnson, Jason McGonigle, Vinetta Miller, Joyce Moseley, David Schmuckler, and Eric Stewart. The portraits in this exhibition range from celebrities to friends to family to deities, each offering up a sacred geometry of mouth, nose, ears and eyes. Among imagery of signs and symbols, these heads depart from their bodies and levitate like organic satellites, receiving and transmitting signals. They are charged as mystic entry points, reminiscent of 6th c. cosmic paintings of Tantric Hinduism, and spiritual symbolism of Hilma af Klint.

Sharing company with these entities, we are present to participate in their conversations, which take shape in the space between.

The Center for Creative Works, located in Wynnewood, PA, is an art studio that provides a unique work environment and day service program for people with developmental and intellectual disabilities. CCW gives individualized support to its participants, fostering their personal and professional growth in the arts.

FACE SPACE is curated by artist Adam Lovitz.
