BILLY BOLDS

CCW Kensington_Portraits_020 (1)_edited.

Billy Bolds (b. 1991) creates vivid, gestural compositions on paper and canvas. With the repetition of a signature form (which at various times has been interpreted as a tree, a figure, a lollipop, a balloon, and a lightbulb) layered in conjunction with emphatic scribbles, Bolds forms dynamic abstract clouds of mark on the surfaces he works on.

Bolds' work has been featured in an exhibition at the Jamestown Art Center in Jamestown, Rhode Island and Philadelphia’s Magic Gardens, among other venues. His first solo exhibition at CCW's Philadelphia Studio Gallery was in 2024, featuring a selection of small and large-scale work on paper, canvas, and plexiglass. Bolds’ work was also prominently displayed at Miami's Art Week 2024, at The Open Invitational Art Fair. Bolds lives in Philadelphia with his family.
