ALEXA SEKULA

IMG_0434.JPG

Alexa Sekula (b.1996) joined the Philadelphia Studio at Center for Creative Works in 2022. Sekula is a multidisciplinary artist who is interested in weaving, painting, and recently, has also been exploring musical pursuits.

Sekula is a highly experienced hand weaver with an immediately identifiable style. After years of focusing on strengthening her weaving skills, she began to develop her own approach, which involves tying short segments of yarn together, resulting in furry, textured weavings. In addition to innovating with her choice and use of materials, Sekula has an undeniable eye for color, using unusual combinations that bring a fresh aesthetic to her textile work.

Sekula’s work has been included in Summer Flowers, a group exhibition at CCW's Philadelphia Studio Gallery. She lives in Philadelphia, PA.
